"The Iris van Herpen X United Nude product is a glamorous ankle bootie with smooth round lines and golden leather detailing on the front and back of the shoe, with three-dimensional characteristics. We have luckily gotten our hand on the final ten pairs of shoes from this hyper-limited side-project. Transparency, reflections and movements create the effect of visual estrangement as the limited edition bootie gives a feeling of fluidity mixed with fire. The construction of the shoe is so complicated and precise that each pair is 100% hand-made with the highest grade Italian kid leather available. Therefore, the production of this unique product has been kept to the very low number of 240 limited edition across the colorways. The fantasy inspired ankle booties mirror the accents, trims and details of her clothing collection–which took editors, stylists and the press by storm last March. The marriage between the shoes and the apparel is a unique and radiant offering.
United Nude’s Creative Director Rem D Koolhaas reflected on the collaboration by saying: “I was introduced to Iris after I had admired her work. I offered to make shoes for her, as I know that for fashion designers shoes always come as an afterthought and most fashion designers don’t have the resources to get it all done on time. I think the result of our work together is that of a pure and successful collaboration as her identity and our expertise and craftsmanship are joined in this marvelous product”.
When the shoes arrived at our warehouse this week—it was as if the shoe-gods had spoken to us—we sat silent as the box seemed to radiate beams of shoe glory, as a single piece of packing tape was slowly removed from the exterior of the carton. We are very excited to offer the Iris van Herpen collaboration shoes here at Solestruck. With ten pairs on hand from the United Nude pairing–and a new year ahead of us–we figured there was no time like the present to kick the new year off with a bang. As–our 2011 continues—we will go forward doing what we do best—finding the best shoes, an array of price-points and style options, the newest labels, international collections, the craziest collabos—and bringing them under one roof.
